About Charter Schools

Southeast Ohio Classical Academy will submit a charter application to a state charter authorizer in September of 2022.

What is a charter school?

A charter school is a tuition-free nontraditional public school (known in Ohio as a “community school”). These learning institutions are public, nonprofit, nonreligious schools that receive state and federal funds but are independent of traditional school districts. A charter school’s independence allows for innovation, thus offering families the option of educational models, curriculum, and academic environments that may not be otherwise available.

In summary, SOCA will be an alternative school option that will offer a high-quality education at no cost to the families of our area.
