Which grade levels will be offered at SOCA?

SOCA will offer grades K-6 for the 2024-2025 school year.

Will my child be able to attend SOCA through 12th grade?

Yes. SOCA will add one additional grade level each year. SOCA will serve grades K-12 by the 2030-2031 school year. This means that any student entering grades K-6 for the 2024-2025 school year can continue to attend SOCA through high school graduation.

How old does my child need to be to apply for Kindergarten?

To be eligible for Kindergarten, a student must turn five years old by September 30th, 2024.

What documentation is required for admission to Southeast Ohio Classical Academy?

SOCA will require the upload of the following documents for all students seeking admission within 7 business days after accepting the offer for a seat:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Current Proof of Residence (see p.2 in the linked document from ODE for eligible documentation)
  • Current Immunization Form (see linked document for required immunization summary)
  • Caregiver’s Driver’s License or State-Issued ID
  • Custody Documents (if applicable)

How will I know if my student has been offered a seat?

Parents will be contacted by email and/or phone to be notified if their child has been offered a seat. If a student is placed on a waiting list, families will know where they are on the waiting list for their grade level. Please note, it is the responsibility of the parents to make sure their submitted contact information is correct and up-to-date to receive timely communication from SOCA.

What happens once I am notified that my child has been offered an available seat?

  1. Parents must accept the offer for an available seat within three (3) business days of receiving notification. Without a timely response, the seat is forfeited to the next applicant in line.
  2. Once parents have accepted the offer for enrollment, registration begins. Parents have seven (7) business days to submit and complete the required registration forms, including all required documentation. If the required registration is not completed within the allotted time, the seat is forfeited to the next applicant in line.

SOCA will open with grades Kindergarten through 6th grade and grow by one grade level per year until it is a K-12 school.

Will my child have to reapply and participate in the lottery every school year?

No. Once your child is officially attending SOCA (enrolled, registered, and admitted), they will have the opportunity to re-enroll in future years, provided that:

  1. Students continue to be a resident of Ohio, and
  2. Students are eligible according to academic and disciplinary guidelines as stated in the Family Handbook.

Students that are not re-enrolled by the deadline of next year’s re-enrollment period cannot be guaranteed a seat for the next school year.
